June and July have been busy and, with the extremely hot weather, it has been more than a little physically challenging. We are not as young as we used to be! A wide variety of vehicles has featured but two things became apparent; SUVs and red cars, though no red SUVs!
Motor homes and caravans of vastly differing sizes were among the mix, which included the usual array of everyday and premium cars.
Not every vehicle valeted is featured here, so if you had your car cleaned, valeted or protected by us and it does not appear please do not be offended! There could be many reasons, not least of which is that we forgot to take appropriate photographs!
Motorhomes and campers
From a 1970s VW camper van to a modern Carthago motorhome, we have the valeting solution for your pride and joy.
The Carthago C-Tourer was washed, decontaminated (brake dust shows as tiny orange/rust spots), polished where necessary and finished with a durable wax.
SUVs - top pick BMW x3
SUVs have formed a higher than usual percentage of work in the past couple of months, the BMW X3 being particularly popular.
Whilst the majority of the vehicles shown here fall into the premium category they usually have to work hard as family transport. This is even more reason why they should be valeted thoroughly on a regular basis. We can usually perform miracles but some types of neglect or abuse are difficult to reverse.
If you have spent anywhere between £30k and £80k on your new SUV, a further £100 or so every couple of months to ensure it remains like new is a small price to pay. See our full range of valets.
A Teutonic trio, OK, Oxford stretches it!
The BMW Z4 had been repainted and the finish was far from perfect. After experimenting with various pad and polish combinations, a single-stage machine polish corrected most of the defects. It was topped off with a wax and sealant.
The BMW 640 received a full Gold valet inside and out. Dark coloured cars are difficult to work on as they absorb so much heat in direct sunlight. Nonetheless, we continue to work as we can protect your car with our pop-up canopy while valeting it.
The JCW Mini in red received a full Gold valet and is scheduled to receive a maintenance valet by us on a monthly basis.
Just three of the exceptionally high number of red vehicles we valeted in the past couple of months.
The Nissan Juke had been valeted by one of our competitors around a year earlier. We provided the same high quality transformation inside and out for a little over half the price. Our prices are not the lowest but do represent good value for the work undertaken and final result.
The Skoda Yeti receives a Gold valet every two months from us.
The Toyota GT86 was a lease-return and required a comprehensive Gold valet including paintwork correction, especially to the bonnet (see below).
Don't use the cheap, hand car wash!
This is the result of going to the cheap, hand car washes – a mass of serious swirl marks.
And to make matters worse, someone who clearly did not know how to use a rotary electric polisher then tried to remove the swirl marks. In so doing they introduced buffer trails and holograms.
In conclusion, cheap car washes are cheap for a reason. And if someone says they will ‘mop your car for £50’, do not expect a good result. ‘Mopping’ is a term used by many people in the motor trade for using a machine polisher, and generally they do not understand how paintwork should be cared for or corrected – this includes premium marque dealerships. Check out our Detailing Service to see how we go about paintwork correction.
